MeetingsEvery month, D1CAN invites residents of any District 1 neighborhood to our regular meetings. We want to hear, from all angles, on what progress you want to see in your communities. See our Home page for meeting dates.

SubcommitteesIf there is something you want to work on, join one of our subcommittees! You'll get the chance to work with others in your district who are passionate about the same issues. We currently have groups working on Housing and Health. People in these groups are actively talking with stakeholders around District 1 to figure out how to connect people with needed services.

ActionWe are always trying to get connected with other organizations in District 1 who tackle a variety of problems. What we learn, we bring back to our subcommittees to figure out the best way to solve these issues.

Improving District 1 HealthAfter a year of piloting our meetings, we've heard from several people living in Canton, Highlandtown, and other neighborhoods on the biggest aspects of their lives that need work. 3 topics came out of our chats:
1) Getting access to services like healthcare, housing, job hunting, and more 2) Receiving a living wage 3) Feeling safe on city streets Big problems require starting small. Breaking these problems down into smaller tasks, we have formed our subcommittees on Health and Housing as a start for D1CAN's beginnings. As we grow, we hope to cover other topics as well. |
